Thank you for visiting our version of the The Big Book® of Alcoholics Anonymous®.

This particular version of the book Alcoholics Anonymous® is a hybird of the 1st and 2nd editions. There have been changes between versions. In some places we have made notations about the changes with a hyperlink to an explanation, and in other places we have left the original 1st edition wording.  If you are interested in study of The Big Book® we encourage you to visit the link to Anonymous Press below.

WE do not trudge the road of happy destiny by ourselves and there are many many others that have gone before us in an effort to carry the message contained in the book Alcoholics Anonymous®. But here, we want to take a moment and offer recognition to some of the more active and diligent soldiers in the battle of recovery -- particularly in the online environment.

WE believe Recovery.org was one of the first and one of the bravest of leaders in online AA resources.

International World Services and the AA Big Book Study Group (AABBSG) were also pioneers in getting our recovery message to those who found it difficult to obtain information on our program of recovery. We also want to thank Anonymous Press for their help. Not only have they lead the way in online study material for the book Alcoholics Anonymous® but also graciously offered us programming tips and good will in our effort to reproduce the book.

There is none more courageous than AA BBSG in their effort to carry the message. They have not only rallied their own resources but have inspired others in AA to support the distribution of free AA literature to thousands who otherwise would have no other way to access the information in the Big Book. We are proud that some members of Just for One Day Net aamo.info participated in their more wide reaching, world affecting efforts.

The most influential to our aspirations here at Just for One Day Net aamo.info is AA GSO Watch. This crowd began as a meager email list called minority opinion. These are folks who's devotion to AA and recovery surpass, in our opinion, the efforts of "official" AAWS and the General Service Office by far. WE know of no particular group that cares more deeply about the survival and health of AA as a whole. None.

Finally there is AAWS. The corporation that presumes to represent the fellowship of AA. We have no association or affiliation with AAWS, their parent corporation The General Service Board of Alcoholics Anonymous, or AA Grapevine, and, of course, none of these corporations endorse, approve, disapprove, or have any official opinion of Just for One Day Net aamo.info, our presentations, opinions, or activities. These corporations are the "official" AA World Services and General Service Office and we are glad. We wholeheartedly support them in the spirit of cooperation when they carry the message contained in the book we present here. We are also quite pleased to announce that AAWS with the blessing of the 53rd General Service Conference may select to participate in carrying the message to alcoholics who still suffer!

1.    The committee encourages full Conference discussion of the A.A. World Services Board's "intent to place the Fourth Edition of the Big Book on the G.S.O. Web site."

A show of hands was definitely in favor of putting the Big Book on the web site.

We look forward to having AAWS/GSO join the online community that carrys the message. Well done!

We hope to soon have an AA links page for a selection of other sites who preceded and encouraged us at Just for One Day Net.

UPDATE:

Our Big Book introduction above was produced in 2002. We've moved some of the Just for One Day Net (just41day.net) content to aamo.info and have crossed out references but left them for archival purposes.
We also have news on the Big Book on the "official" AA Web Site. They did in fact offer their 4th edition online and at first it was largely useless. You could read it, but that was all. They later added a search feature to their book. That made the book more useful and it was also downloadable. Since making this progress they have regressed horribly. In order to avoid downloads they've broken up the book into various chapters and have made searching it once again useless. If you want a download of the Big Book visit our download page or our Big Books page. We're grateful to have an opportunity to fill in the cracks left gapping by the New York Corporations that presume to serve the AA Fellowship.

About this Big Book:

This Online Big Book was designed for the Big Book Lover. While we've made every effort to provide easy navigation for the newcomer we've also detailed the book so "Book Thumpers" could send a link to the exact paragraph they want to qoute.
From the contents page just choose the paragraph you would like to link to, click, then copy the link in the browswer window navigation tool bar. For example, this link http://aamo.info/bb/j41d/bbch02.html#p25_1 will go directly to the statement "There is a solution....". We have found this very useful when we want to display the exact passage we are referring to.
Keep coming back, not just to learn or to use our handy Big Book but because we routinely ad features to our work here. Our next project, perhaps this summer, we hope to install a search engine. We've been a bit lost since healing source was forced to remove their nifty search engine.
